Riga Carriage Building Works (hereinafter RVR) is the oldest producer of passenger railway transport in the
territory of the former USSR. RVR was founded in 1895 and was the
largest manufactory in Russia. After 1945 produced 1934 diesel rail cars,
7744 trams and 20347 electric rail cars. During the period from 1946 to 1995
held a monopoly position in the markets of the Soviet Union, Bulgaria and
Yugoslavia. More than 60% of all electro cars and diesel passenger trains of
the regional and suburban communications being now in operation in CIS and
Baltic countries are made by RVR.
The
RVR main manufacture lines are:
- production and
modernization of electro and diesel trains for the regional and suburban
message;
- production and
modernization of trams and freight cars;
- repair and production
of spare parts.
RVR’s brand is
acknowledged and well-known in the world market, further more
RVR is in cooperation with leaders of the global industry.
